The American Association for Active Lifestyles and Fitness (AAALF) and the American Association for Leisure and Recreation (AALR) have merged and are in the process of consolidating and strengthening the services they offer their membership by becoming one association. In a landmark vote at the 2005 AAHPERD Alliance Assembly in Chicago, delegates for AAHPERD’s governing body approved the formation of this new association focusing on lifelong recreation, physical activity and fitness.

The purpose of the new association is to link professionals in education with community and agency-based programs, facilitating a continuum of education for professionals providing physical activity, recreation, and fitness programs across the lifespan.

Please note our temporary composite masthead for the AAALF and AALR web sites. All of the AAALF and AALR pages are still here with the news and information you want but we now have one homepage to link our members to each other.
