Brief Statement
I believe in strategic planning. I bring experienced professional leadership skills needed to implement the potential AAHE/SOPHE unification which will need a VISON PLAN for at least the next five years. The vision plan will be our road map and will be developed with the following priorities:
Membership Growth & Services
Credentialing and Quality Assurance
Diversity
Sustenance of diversity in our profession is very important. We all realize the importance of building a diverse association because of the enrichment that occurs when diverse groups of professionals have opportunities to interact and become engaged in common experiences that are continuously sustained. Diversity in all its forms serves to enhance the quality of life for all Health Educators.
Advocacy
AAHE/SOPHE unification must continue to advocate for the needy and underserved segments of our population in terms of their health and social needs. We must continue to strengthen our public health advocacy efforts. The policy makers as well as the general public need to be educated on key health issues.
Partnership/Collaboration with other Constituencies
AAHE will be a leader in partnership and collaborative endeavors with other associations and stakeholders. It is to our benefit to build bridges and work together to market and promote the profession. A great example is the proposed AAHE/SOPHE unification.
Resource Development and Infrastructure
AAHE/SOPHE unification needs to optimize its resources. Facing new fiscal challenges, AAHE/SOPHE should examine better ways to generate new revenue streams. Financial resources must be aligned with our VISION PLAN. AAHE/SOPHE continuing success requires the making of judgments about selective investment initiatives that will advance our common mission.
In order to support our mission, we require a well-maintained infrastructure of people, finance, and facilities including new technologies. The administrative and support staff are effective, efficient and will continue to improve from good to great.
Accountability
Accountability is essential to effective management and requires commitments to assessment, planning, decision making, and continual improvement. Hence, as a member of the AAHE Board of Directors, I will ensure accountability in all we do to our members.
Qualities
My qualities include hard-working, humility, fairness to all, honesty, self-motivation, effective leadership, respect for others, team member, maturity, emotional stability, active listening skills, compromising ability, planning and evaluation skills, and cross-cultural perspectives.
