1. What is PIPEline?

PIPEline (Program Improvement in Physical Education) is a series of workshops designed to help teachers improve their programs and provide quality physical education consistent with the National Physical Education Standards.

2. What PIPEline workshops are available?

There are 8 workshops options, with 3 available at the elementary or secondary level.

  • Assessment Strategies: K-12 Physical Education*
  • Instructional Models in Standards-based Physical Education
  • Teaching Dance: K-12 Physical Education*

  • Let's Get Moving: Physical Activity for Children Ages 3-5
  • STARS: Creating a "Program of Excellence" Portfolio

*available for elementary or secondary levels

3. What type of training is provided for PIPEline?

A full day (7 hour) workshop is available for all of the offerings. Let's Get Moving workshop is also available in a half-day format. 
Workshop presenters are recognized national physical education teachers, curriculum/instruction specialists and/or district or national teachers of the year.

4. Can we have a half-day workshop?                     

With the exception of Let's get Moving,  all PIPEline training modules are full-day sessions. NASPE's ProLink consulting services are available for those who wish to tailor training to fit a half day in-service timeframe, and also for topics not addressed by the PIPEline workshops.

5. How many people can attend?

The maximum number of participants for all the workshops except Integrating Technology: K-12 Physical Education is 50. The technology workshop allows for a maximum of 30 participants, in order to allow the clinician to provide hands-on instruction with the devices as well as computer lab instruction.

6. What if I have a very small group of teachers to train?

Several adjacent school districts have teamed to host a workshop. Institutions of higher education may be willing to host along with a school district.

7. What do I need to provide?

The host organization must provide a suitable space for movement and lecture activities, audiovisual equipment and activity equipment. In the case of the technology workshop, a computer lab may be required along with a technician to assist before and during the workshop. Please discuss this with your presenter.
