Top Ten Reasons AAPAR Salutes its Members

#10: Because your generosity has helped AAPAR fulfill its mission of promoting lifelong and inclusive physical activity and recreation. AAPAR members donated almost $7,000 to our annual campaign last year. Thank you!
#9: Because you're committed to inclusion. Speaking of which, it's not too late to submit your two-minute video to the Every Body Can! Adapted Physical Education Video Contest, organized by AAPAR's Adapted Physical Activity Council.
#8: Because you're planning to attend our annual Convention (right?), which is the best way to stay connected, stay involved, and stay ahead in the career game.
#7: Because you're making the roads safer for cyclists. AAPAR members Heather Board, Victoria Miller, Joanne Margaret Hynes-Hunter, and Robert Martin are working on a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration project to develop and evaluate a bicycle safety curriculum. Stay tuned (for, um, about 3 years) for details of how you can implement it.
#6: Because you serve one another by serving on our Board, Cabinet, and committees. AAPAR relies on its member-volunteers! And because you serve by providing publications, assessments, and free resources.
#5: Because you create innovative products for fellow members, like our new Adapted Aquatics blended course coming in mid-January. The course combines online instruction with in-pool training, making it easier for you to earn your adapted aquatics credential.
#4: Because you serve communities all across America. Two hundred and fifty AAPAR and NASPE Physical Activity Consultants are helping Head Start Centers implement physical activity programs through the Head Start Body Start National Center for Physical Development and Outdoor Play.
#3: Because there are more than 8,000 of you, and saluting that many times would be good exercise—which we enjoy!
#2: Because we think it would be fun to create a secret AAPAR salute for people who have read this far. So when you see other AAPAR members at Convention or beyond, salute them with both hands raised, waving wildly. The cool thing is, if you do that 8,000 times, once for each member, you'll either qualify for your daily dose of moderate to vigorous physical activity, or you'll develop repetitive motion syndrome.
#1: And finally, the number 1 reason we salute you, our 8,000 members, this holiday season, is because we appreciate YOU. We appreciate your PARticipation, we appreciate membership, and most importantly, we appreciate all you do to promote lifelong and inclusive physical activity and recreation.
Happy Holidays -- from AAPAR, to you!
