Dr. Connie Fox Wins the 2011 AAPAR Honor Award

Reston, VA – Dr. Connie Fox, Associate Dean at Northern Illinois University, has been named the winner of the 2011 Honor Award, given by the American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation (AAPAR).
Fox was the first President of AAPAR, when it was formed in 2005 through the merger of the American Association for Active Lifestyle and Fitness and the American Association for Leisure and Recreation.
"As the first AAPAR President, Connie established a firm foundation for the AAPAR mission," AAPAR President Dr. Julia Ann Hypes says. "We are fortunate to have her expertise and leadership as we continue to fulfill the mission she began."
Dr. Fox received her doctoral degree from the University of Georgia. Her research focuses on motor skill development, measurement and assessment in physical education, and performance standards. As a faculty member of Northern Illinois University's Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, she served as director of teacher education in physical experiences. As associate dean, Dr. Fox is responsible for curriculum review, academic planning, program reviews, assessment and accreditation activities and student services.
The Honor Award is the second highest honor bestowed on an AAPAR member. Recipients have provided outstanding services as an officer of AAPAR, its councils, and/or committees. Recipients must also have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of AAPAR.
