AAPAR's Adapted Physical Education Assessment Workshops (APEAS II)
AAPAR offers workshops in using the Adapted Physical Education Assessment Scale (APEAS II) software. We provide two half-day assessment education workshops for schools, school districts, and universities. Or, schedule a full-day workshop and learn both test administration and software usage.
Test Administration Workshop
Participants receive hands-on practice with administration and scoring performances for elementary and secondary levels. AAPAR instructors use exercises unique to this test administration, such as the evidence-based curl-up and others. Each workshop is customized to meet the needs of your school or school district.
APEAS II measures four areas of motor performance; all will be included in this training:
- Perceptual motor function
- Object control
- Locomotor skills
- Physical fitness
- Adaptive behaviors
In addition, the workshop covers adaptive behaviors that, in spite of adequate motor performance, could limit a student's ability to participate in general physical education.
Software Usage Workshop
Participants learn how to use the APEAS II software, with hands-on practice administering, scoring, and recording performances at the elementary and secondary levels. Learn how to use the software in two formats: electronic score sheet and paper-and-pencil.
To schedule an APEAS II workshop:
- You must have a group of at least 20 people; maximum 50
- Each participant must purchase the APEAS II software
- You must have a facility with adequate space and equipment (gym/field for the Test Administration Workshop and computers for the Software Usage Workshop)
In addition to test originator Jan Seaman, workshop leaders include Cyndi Martinich, coordinator of adapted physical education for the Los Angeles Unified School District, and APEAS II software developer extraordinaire, Dan Cariaga, and others.
