Workshops in Adapted Aquatics

Become an Adapted Aquatics Instructor

With a new online course through Human Kinetics, aquatic instructors can learn the skills, knowledge, and etiquette needed to safely and effectively implement quality adapted aquatic programs. To earn your credential in adapted aquatics, you must also pass an in-pool practicum, provided only through AAPAR.

Earn Your Credential in Adapted Aquatics Instruction

To earn your credential you must pass the online course as well as the in-pool practicum, provided only through AAPAR.  A credential lends credibility to and proof of your knowledge and training.

3 Easy Steps to Earning a Credential in Adapted Aquatics

  1. Successfully complete Human Kinetics' online course titled Adapted Aquatics Instructor Credentialing Prep.*
  2. Register for the in-pool practicum of the course through AAPAR within one year of taking the online course.
  3. Attend a 1-day workshop for the in-pool practicum and pass the credentialing test.
Become a Master Teacher of Adapted Aquatics

After receiving your Adapted Aquatics Instructor Credential, you qualify to become a Master Teacher, able to lead workshops and train others in becoming credentialed adapted aquatics instructors. Master Teachers are expected to instruct workshops periodically. Contact AAPAR for more information.

*Note: Human Kinetics also offers an online course titled "Introduction to Adapted Aquatics Instruction." Completion of this course will not satisfy the prerequisite for AAPAR's in-pool practicum to earn your credential. Only successful completion of the "Adapted Aquatics Credentialing Prep Course" will satisfy the prerequisite for applying for your credential.
