RESTON, VA, July 29, 2013– The American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) has named Laura Munley the new joint projects program manager for its signature national educational fund development programs, Jump Rope for Heart/Hoops for Heart (JRH/HFH), co-sponsored with the American Heart Association (AHA).
In her new role, Munley is responsible for working with state and local partners as well as volunteers to promote and implement activities for both projects. Geared towards elementary and middle school aged children, JRH/HFH have been in existence since the late 1970's and 1980's respectively, and promote physical activity, heart-healthy living and community service to children. In addition, the programs promote physical education and provide children with knowledge of heart disease and stroke while raising funds for cardiovascular disease research, stroke research and health education.
