RESTON, VA, July 1, 2013, At the upcoming 103rd Annual Ridgewood, NJ Fourth of July Celebration and Parade, New Jersey Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NJAHPERD) and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) will host a float inspired by First Lady Michelle Obama's recently launched Let's Move! Active Schools (LMAS) initiative.
This is the 95-year old organization's first time participating in the Ridgewood Fourth of July parade. Celebrating this year's parade theme of "Honoring our Declaration of Independence," JoAnn Doherty, NJAHPERD President, could think of no better way to celebrate the rights of "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" than being a LMAS champion with a "moving" float.
"We are proud and excited to advocate for quality health, physical education, fitness and physical activity with our national partner AAHPERD," she added. The parade begins at 10 a.m. rain or shine at George Washington School on Godwin Avenue, goes down to East Ridgewood Avenue to Maple Avenue and ends at Graydon Pool.
