Portland PE Teachers Speak Out

In an effort to reduce their budget by $19 million, the Portland Oregon Public School Board is considering the elimination of a significant portion of their physical education programs.

Over 200 physical education teachers and supporters turned out at the Portland School Board meeting to speak out against the proposed slashing of PE programs, a proposal that would place the responsibility of physical activity with regular homeroom teachers throughout the day.

Physical education programs are not the only ones at risk: music, art and other elective programs face significant cuts as well. More>>
