EDA Acknowledgement Awards Each year at the EDA Convention, these awards are presented by individuals to honored friends, family and/or colleagues at a special session. Professional Development Grant The purpose of the EDA Professional Development Grant is to encourage increased participation in the Eastern District Association by having professionals in the disciplines of HPERD attend the EDA Convention. The Professional Development Grant program provides support of $150.00 for ten qualified individuals to attend the EDA convention. Preference is given to first time convention attendees. AAHPERD Student Scholarship The Ruth Abernathy Presidential Scholarship, developed by the past presidents of AAHPERD to honor deserving students, is awarded to three undergraduate students and two graduate students in January of each year. All scholarships are presented at the AAHPERD National Convention & Exposition held in the spring. Undergraduate awards are $1,250 each and graduate awards are $1,750 each.
