About Northwest District

It is the mission of Northwest District of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NWD AAHPERD) to serve as a liaison to the Alliance, to sustain and enhance professional growth and development of all NWD members through advocacy and leadership and to disseminate information for the expansion of quality health, physical education, recreation and dance programs.

The geographical area of the Northwest District comprises the following states: Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. Although we cover a large area and a number of states, we are united in our efforts to be advocates for professionals, students and the public in fitness and lifetime health.

Leaders

Our Board of Directors consists of approximately 22 members. Our Executive Board consists of the following positions: president, past president, president-elect, district representative to the AAHPERD Board of Governors, treasurer, and parliamentarian. In addition we also have a representative (voting member) from each state within the association.

The Northwest District is aligned so that its divisions are representative of AAHPERD's national associations. Our associations include: AAHE, NASPE, NDA, AAPAR, and NAGWS. In addition to the association positions we also have two representatives for the Council of Future Professionals, a JRFH coordinator, a Physical Best coordinator, an award chair, and an executive director.
