Southern District Donna L. Dunaway Medal

The Donna L. Dunaway Medal (The Dunaway Medal) is the highest award Southern District AAHPERD can bestow on a member and honors the professional life and career-long contributions to the Southern District AAHPERD by Donna Lee Dunaway. In that spirit, the Donna L. Dunaway Medal honors those individuals who have made significant and sustained contributions and given meritorious service to Southern District AAHPERD over a significant period of time.  

Qualifications:
  • Be a noteworthy leader and a significant contributor to the work of Southern District AAHPERD.
  • Has exemplified long term and meritorious service to Southern district AAHPERD for a minimum period of 15 years.
  • Be a person of high moral character whose contributions have emulated the spirit of service, dedication and the highest work ethic which the Dunaway Medal represents.
  • Candidates shall be at least 45 years of age as of October 15 of the year of nomination.
  • Be a member of Southern District AAHPERD for a minimum period of 15 years prior to being nominated for the award and reside in the Southern District at the time of the award. Previous Dunaway Medal recipients and deceased members are not eligible for the Dunaway Medal.
Deadline

To nominate someone as a candidate for the 2013 Dunaway Medal, please send the following information in a 'nomination letter' to Dr. Fran Meyer at fmameyer@aol.com by no later than February 8, 2013:

  1. name and e-mail address of the nominator
  2. name, e-mail address, mailing address and phone number of the candidate being nominated
  3. reasons why the candidate deserves consideration for the Donna L. Dunaway Medal (corresponds to award criteria)
