Information Collection and Use
AAHPERD is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent the information collected through the Web site to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. AAHPERD collects information from our users at several different points on our Web site.
Registration
To access areas designated as "member areas," users must be current members of AAHPERD. Information collected when joining AAHPERD is used to control access to these areas of the Web site. AAHPERD members who wish to use the "member areas" of the Web site will be required to enter their current member number and/or email address and password. This information is used to verify the user's account and, in turn, provide an added security feature so that accounts are not used by anyone other than the specified member. The member's email address is used to send verification emails that provide a copy of any online changes to their AAHPERD account.
Online Orders
For online orders a user must provide contact information (i.e. name and shipping address) and financial information (i.e. credit card number, expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to fill customer’s orders. If we have trouble processing an order, this contact information is used to get in touch with the user.
Cookies
Cookies are small information/identification files that Web sites post on your computer to facilitate tracking and processing. Since cookies are text only files they only contain information obtained by means such as online forms. As with all other matters regarding information, AAHPERD ensures that no sensitive information is ever embedded in cookies and in most cases the cookie file is eliminated once you have ended your web session. Modern browsers can be set to warn you when cookies are being posted or even to reject all cookies. Elimination of cookies will significantly diminish the Web-based services available to you.
Log Files
Each view of a page on the AAHPERD site is logged. We record information such as the user's IP address, time of day, duration of activity on the site, and other activity information. This information is used to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.
IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information unless any illegal activity is detected on our site. Only under such circumstances would AAHPERD attempt to connect an IP address to personal information.
Sharing
We will share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.
We use an outside shipping company to ship orders, and a credit card processing company to process online credit card payments for services such as joining or renewing membership or product orders and on-line registrations. These companies do not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.

Surveys
From time-to-time, our Web site requests information from users via surveys. Participation in these surveys is completely voluntary. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and mailing address), and demographic information (such as zip code, age level, gender). Contact information will be used to notify the winners and award prizes. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring and/or improving the use and satisfaction of this site and of member benefits.
Security
This Web site takes every precaution to protect our users' information. When you submit sensitive information via the Web site, your information is protected both on-line and off-line.
When our registration/order form prompts users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card information), that information is encrypted with top rated software to ensure that the information is transmitted across the Internet without being exposed to unauthorized parties. Any forms managed by outside vendors are required to have the same level of security.
While we use industry top-rated encryption and authentication software to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted internally in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information. All employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Periodically, as new policies are added, our employees are notified and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what they can do to ensure our customers' information is protected. Finally, the servers that we store personally identifiable information on are kept in a secure environment. Only a very limited number of employees have access to this room. Additionally, our servers are all password protected.

AAHPERD sends all new members a welcoming email to verify contact information and to welcome them to the organization. Established members will occasionally receive information on products, services, special deals and offers, and a newsletter.
Notification of Changes
We will make every reasonable effort to keep our privacy statement current. Any substantial changes to this section will be accompanied by an announcement on our home page.
If, at any point, we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify users by way of an email. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
