Alliance Assembly

As a governing body of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, delegates to the Alliance Assembly represent the membership of AAHPERD. Their duties are outlined in the Alliance Assembly operating code and the Alliance Bylaws (Article VIII, Section 3). Delegations are organized by districts (includes states and U. S. territories), national associations and students.

Executive Committee

The AAHPERD President, Past President, and President-Elect serve as delegates.

District Delegations (includes states and U. S. Territories)

Each district delegation is comprised of the president, president-elect, and Alliance Board of Governors representative as well as delegations for each state and U. S. territory within that district.

National Association Delegations

The delegation size for each national association is based on the official AAHPERD professional membership. Delegations must include the Alliance Board of Governors representative and should also include the association president.

Student Delegation

The official AAHPERD student membership count ending May 31 in the year preceding the delegate term is used to determine the size of the student delegation.

The number of delegates for each delegation is based on membership counts ending May 31 in the year preceding the delegate terms. Delegates are appointed or elected by their structures and serve for one calendar year beginning January 1 and ending December 31.

To serve as an Assembly delegate, professionals and students must hold a current membership in the Alliance and must have held such membership for at least one continuous year immediately prior to election or appointment to the Alliance Assembly. A lapse in membership at any time in the year preceding the delegate term disqualifies a member from serving.
