Girls Inc. of Santa Fe is partnering with the Thunderbirds, a men’s professional basketball team owned by a woman, Jackie Bregman. On February 2, 2011 the Thunderbirds will be playing against the Texas Legends, whose head coach is Nancy Lieberman. Nancy is a Hall of Fame basketball player and the first female coach of a men’s NBA team. This game will be a Girls Inc. of Santa Fe game night in recognition of NGWSD. Some of the tickets sold will have partial proceeds given to Girls Inc. of Santa Fe. Girls Inc. was given free court-side seats for our teen girls. Prior to the game these girls will have the opportunity to meet and chat with Nancy and Jackie about careers in sports. Also, that day the other girls at Girls Inc. will be participating in sports and learning about careers in sports. |
