Keynote Speakers: Robert E. Sallis, M.D. (Exercise is Medicine) and Eduardo Sanchez, M.D. Chairman of NIH Committee on Childhood Obesity Prevention Actions for Local Government. The Exercise is Medicine Workshop will teach attendees how to implement and lead the Exercise Is Medicine program in their local community.  
The Texas Showcase will feature both the Texas Action Plan for Physical Activity and the Active Austin Model both of which demonstrate how the disparate entities including: charities/non-profits; companies; government; media; and community agencies have been brought together synergistically to create and active lifestyle culture. Speakers include:
Baker Harrell, executive Director, Active Life, Will Wynn, former Mayor of Austin, Paul Carrozza, owner of RunTex, Bill Kohl, Ph.D., University of Texas, and Melissa Johnson former Executive Director, President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports

Chaired by James R. Whitehead, Executive Vice President of the American College of Sports Medicine, nationally recognized subject matter experts including: Mark Fenton, Diane Hart, Melissa Johnson, Dr. Robert E. Sallis, Brenda Loube, MD, Brett Spencer and Phil Haberstro will report on the eight key sectors utilized in framing the April 2010 National Physical Activity Plan.
