After 25 years of research, best-selling author and retired PE teacher Frank Russel Ross has compiled a thorough collection of African American folk and social dances for students from pre-K through adult. Highly recommended for the school curriculum- never to be forgotten and always to be enjoyed. These lesson plans, with historical background, align with the National Dance and Physical Education Standards! From Ring Plays to popular Line and Hand Dances, this great "how-to" book introduces all kinds of African American cultural dances along with a brief introduction to each time period.
The Scholar/Artist award is presented annually to a member who consistently demonstrates creative work in dance research and artistic presentations. The Scholar/Artist speaks before arts groups, as well as to those in the dance disciplines and presents an inspiring lecture at the AAHPERD National Convention.
