Meet the Staff

 Bethe Almeras Bethe Almeras, MS
Center Director
I can sum up what I do in two words: Play Evangelist. I love to work with "grown-ups" (educators, parents, policy makers – you name it!) to promote the importance of play, time in nature and the role of joy in childhood. I share this passion through presentations and trainings, educational resources, blogging and social media outlets, eLearning experiences – and any other way I can think of! I have worked with individuals from "cradle to grave," and also specialize in inclusive education for children with disabilities. I truly believe that play and time in nature is the best way to reach and teach everyone, regardless of age or ability. You can follow my pro-play platform at The Body Smart Blog, The Grass Stain Guru and on Twitter @HSBS_Play. See ya outside!

 Jasmine Milner Jasmine Milner
Grants Director

My background in federal grants as well as finances allows me to provide the oversight necessary to administer over 350 grants to deserving children at Head Start Centers. My responsibilities to Head Start Body Start encompass providing fiscal stewardship of federal funds as well as managing general business operations of the National Center for Physical Development and Outdoor Play.
 Stephanie Lussier Stephanie Lussier
Education & Outreach Coordinator

I majored in Recreation, Parks and Tourism largely because of my enjoyment of being outdoors. Growing up in Reston, Virginia, I was lucky enough to spend 99% of my time outdoors. Whether it was climbing trees, hiking through the acres upon acres of wooded land that made up my backyard, swimming in the local neighborhood pools, playing soccer, field hockey, or lacrosse, I was always outside. Not much has changed for me, as I regularly like to take advantage of the numerous trails that Reston has to offer… and in the summer you can always find me pool-side. I am looking forward to my new position here at Head Start Body Start and spreading the word about the importance of outdoor play and physical activity.

Grants Assistant

Over the years my career has been focused within the retail and hospitality industries, which has allowed me to strengthen my people management skills as well as specialize in customer satisfaction.  With my experience I have learned to solve many issues including financial reporting, human resource concerns, and customer relations.  The experience I have gained through the years will allow me to support and assist the Grants Manager as we work through the different procedures for all grants.  I enjoy working with people and believe that physical activity and promoting healthy lifestyles are a necessity for our children and society.  I am grateful to be a part of this organization based on its values and mission statement.

Project Assistant
My background in working for different organizations as an administrative assistant/customer service representative has allowed me to provide the support and assistance needed here at Head Start Body Start. I am a firm believer that movement and physical activities are an essential part of children's development and am grateful to be a part of a team that promotes this principle. I look forward to becoming an asset at Head Start Body Start in the promotion of outdoor play and physical activity.
