Funding Opportunities  

Each year through 2012, Head Start Body Start will award approximately $2 million to Head Start Centers across the nation to improve their outdoor play spaces. In addition to the HSBS Play Space Grants, below are other funding opportunities for which your Head Start Center or organization might qualify for to help you achieve a safe and healthy play space for young children. Please check back regularly for updated information.

Grants

The American Academy of Dermatology's Shade Structure Program has grants of up to $8,000 for the purchase of permanent shade structures designed to provide shade and ultraviolet (UV) ray protection for outdoor areas. The Academy also provides a permanent sign to be displayed near the shade structure that promotes the importance of sun safety.
