Official JPC Statement on JRFH/HFH Taskforces
The American Heart Association and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance fully support the recent changes made to the Memorandum of Agreement/Minimum Performance Agreement eliminating Jump Rope For Heart/Hoops For Heart taskforces from the general partnership agreement. This change was recommended to the AHA/AAHPERD Leadership Committee after it was discovered there were very few states that still had state Jump Rope For Heart/Hoops For Heart taskforces in existence.
The change was made in an effort to have more options for communication between the states and the AHA affiliates. This change gives both organizations a variety of options in which they can communicate. The most effective communication channels should be determined jointly between the state AHPERD and the AHA affiliate.
States will not be discouraged from having JRFH/HFH taskforces if they so choose to. Existence of a state JRFH/HFH taskforce is the decision of both the State AHPERD association and the AHA affiliate. For those states that choose to have a taskforce, the meeting specifics should be decided upon with input from the AHA affiliate.
