About Hoops For Heart
What is Hoops For Heart?
Hoops For Heart (HFH) is a national fundraising program sponsored jointly by AAHPERD and the American Heart Association. HFH is a valuable program that promotes physical activity, heart healthy living, and community service to children. HFH is targeted at students in middle school, but anyone can hold a program at their school, child care center, community center, or anywhere!
History
Hoops For Heart (HFH) began in 1989, and was created by two physical educators, Scott Neal and Taryn Bachis of Albuquerque Academy in New Mexico.
Benefits for Your School
Hoops For Heart helps fund research and educational programs that impact your community -- an important reason to participate, but the best reason of all to join this event is that kids love it!
The AAHPERD/American Heart Association Partnership
Jump Rope For Heart and Hoops For Heart are educational fund development programs that are co-sponsored by AAHPERD and the American Heart Association. These programs promote physical education and provide children with knowledge of heart disease and stroke while raising funds for cardiovascular disease research, stroke research, and health education.
