What is Hoops For Heart?
Hoops For Heart (HFH) is a national fundraising program sponsored jointly by AAHPERD and AHA. HFH is a valuable program that promotes physical activity, heart healthy living, and community service to children. HFH is targeted at students in middle school, but anyone can hold a program at their school, child care center, community center, or anywhere!
Hoops For Heart...
-
Teaches students to set and achieve goals and discover that they can make a difference!
-
Gives kids the opportunity to work on basketball skills and play exciting skills games such as Hot-Shot Blitz, Top Gun and Quick Hands.
-
Funds critical research and educational programs that fight heart disease and stroke, our nation's No. 1 and No. 3 killers.
-
Involves the entire school in a lot of fun!
Regular physical activity in childhood and adolescence improves strength and endurance, reduces anxiety and stress, helps control weight, builds healthy bones and muscles, and increases self-esteem. Young people can build healthy bodies and establish healthy lifestyles well into adulthood by including physical activity in their daily lives. The Hoops For Heart event can help you establish this important lifelong habit!
