What is Jump Rope For Heart / Hoops For Heart?
Jump Rope For Heart (JRFH) and Hoops For Heart (HFH) are national education and fundraising events sponsored by the American Heart Association and AAHPERD. These events engage elementary and middle school students with jumping rope or playing basketball while empowering them to improve their own health and help other kids with heart-health issues. Both programs are great ways to satisfy the national physical education standards, and meet the criteria for a comprehensive school physical activity program.
Why should my school participate?
Created by physical education teachers like yourself, these programs not only support the vision of physical fitness and cardiovascular health for all individuals, they also satisfy AAHPERD’s recognized core physical and health education standards.
- Teachers get classroom resources, teaching tools, professional networking and career development.
- Students receive education on heart healthy living, physical activity skill-building, civic engagement, while having fun with their peers.
- Schools are able to offer increased access to physical education, earn vouchers for equipment and through the programs promote student success and well-being.
You do make the difference!
As the largest organization of professionals involved in physical education, physical activity, and school health -all specialties related to achieving an active, healthy lifestyle - AAHPERD members are critical to continuing the legacy of JRFH and HFH in our schools and communities.
