The Mount Hope "Show Me Jumpers," are a jump rope demonstration show team, based in the Fort Zumwalt School District in O'Fallon, Missouri who have been in existence since 1973, and were recognized and sponsored as the first demonstration show team in Missouri to serve as ambassadors for the American Heart Association, the Jump Rope For Heart program, and the Missouri Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (MOAHPERD) in 1982.
Their mission is to travel to different school districts in the state of Missouri to promote healthy habits through exercise, such as jumping rope, good nutrition, and staying away from tobacco products and other drugs, because heart disease is the number one leading cause of death in the United States in men, women, and young adults.
As ambassadors for the American Heart Association and AAHPERD, the Mount Hope "Show Me Jumpers" perform for thousands of students in Missouri school district assemblies, and help register for Jump Rope For Heart. In addition the team has performed for teacher workshops, conventions, health fairs, festivals, basketball events, The River City Rascals Baseball team, and other civic group organizations. The Show Me Jumpers perform a variety of jump rope routines consisting of team routines, partner rope skills, Double-Dutch, and a host of other long jump rope combinations for their audiences.
One of the biggest accomplishments of the Mount Hope Show Me Jumpers is that the team has helped raise thousands of dollars, to help the American Heart Association in their efforts to save lives. The impact the team has left on the minds of students has been extraordinary. By generating enthusiasm for rope skipping, thousands of students across the state of Missouri have "Jumped In, and Joined In" with Jump Rope For Heart event to help raise funds for medical education and heart research.
