You have the facts about physical education and activity in our nation's schools, and the resources you need to observe and evaluate your school.  Whether you're a parent, school administrator, policymaker now it's time to get involved and make a difference.

Here are some steps everyone can take:

1. Sign up to receive news alerts and updates.

2. Think about the future of PE and share your vision on PE2020.

3. Stay connected to a larger community by joining the NASPE Facebook Group.

Additional action items for:

Parents
  • Volunteer to assist your physical education teacher during National Physical Education and Sport Week- May 1-7 and help out with the activities.
  • Be a role model for your children by incorporating physical activity into your daily routine. Use the 101 Tips for Family Fitness Fun for ideas.
  • Emphasize physical activity at home by downloading the Teacher Toolbox monthly physical activity calendar.
  • Serve on your local school health council to choose a strong curriculum and obtain knowledge of how your school budget supports physical education.
  • Encourage your PTA to fund back-to-school materials that stress the importance of physical education and activity.
  • Become an active fund-raiser to provide educators with the tools they need to maintain a quality program in local schools.

School Administrators Policymakers 
  • Visit STARS schools in your state that have demonstrated quality physical education
  • Encourage other legislators, community leaders and school board members to see a quality physical education program in action
  • Recognize the need for high-quality physical education and activity online and in media opportunities
  • Understand public policy actions that can support your school's ability to implement a comprehensive school physical activity program
  • Take advantage of opportunities to increase funding for physical education and activity programs
