What new activities is your school adding this year? Here is a list of ideas for after-school programs or club programs you could host for families on a regular or limited basis.
- Daily Tri-Challenge - Provide a daily triathlon of the day with three different activities. Mix it up for some surprising fun.
- Dance Clubs - explore the intricacies of the basic movement patterns that all dances incorporate in a fun start/end to the school day.
- Climbing Club - whether your school has a traverse or vertical wall, everybody needs to make some mindful decision-making, whether climbing or taking standardized academic tests.
- Environmental Fitness Boot Camp - learn to exercise in your environment using little to no equipment. A great activity that demonstrates that you don’t need expensive equipment to keep fit-just a little imagination and as little as 10 minutes at a time.
- Muscle Mania - provide middle and high school students with an opportunity to increase muscular strength, record their progress, and invite parents to join in the challenge.
- Grab-Bag Fitness - place task cards with all the activities you can think of in a bag. Participants select a card and perform the task outlined on the card for a variety workout filled with surprises.
- Juggling Club - improve focus and hand-eye coordination before tackling the rigors of the day.
- Mind-Body Connections - provide an opportunity to develop flexibility and explore meditation for a balanced start to the day.
- Walking or Jogging Clubs - focus on cardiovascular health for all ages, recording times and distance to track individual milestones. Celebrate success each session!
