Dear Parents,
School physical education is a curricular area that teaches youth the skills and knowledge needed to establish and sustain an active lifestyle. Physical education teachers assess student knowledge, motor and social skills, and provide instruction in a safe, supportive environment. Based on sequence of learning, physical education should not be compared to or confused with other physical activity experiences such as recess, intramurals, or recreational endeavors.
During the month of January, our school would like to invite you to join your child in participating in a physical education class. Your child's physical education class is held on __________________________________.
In support of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance/National Association for Sport and Physical Education Let's Move in School Program, I urge you to visit the school during your child's physical education class any time this month or the week of designate a week, and participate with your child. For your safety, please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to be physically active, and wear sneakers for your exercise safety.
During your visit to class, you will learn about our class protocols, student objectives for learning, participate in various learning activities that are active, and experience how we assess student performance in physical education. Your participation in class promises to raise your awareness about the instructional nature of physical education, and how valuable a contribution it is to your child's complete education in school.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at your phone, or via e-mail at your e-mail address.
Sincerely,
Your name
Physical Education Teacher
