Honor Awards

The Honor Award is the most prestigious award presented by the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport and has been presented since 1975. There are two categories: one for members of NAGWS and one for individuals outside the association.

The recipients of this award are exemplary of devoted service to the profession and have by their leadership and industry made an outstanding and noteworthy contribution to the advancement of girls and women in sport.

Criteria for the Honor Awards:

Honor Award- NAGWS Members

Candidates shall have served professionally in school (pre-school, elementary, secondary), college, or community programs for a period of at least ten years prior to nomination. 

Candidates shall be members of NAGWS.

Candidates shall be persons of high moral character and personal integrity who exemplify the spirit of devoted service to the professions and who have by their leadership and industry made an outstanding and noteworthy contribution to the advancement of girls' and women's sports.

Candidates shall be at least 30 years of age and shall have preparation in one or more areas of professional concern of NAGWS.

Honor Award for Those Outside NAGWS

Candidates shall be persons of high moral character and personal integrity who exemplify the spirit of devoted service to girls' and women's sports and who have by their leadership and industry made an outstanding and noteworthy contribution to the advancement of girls' and women's sports.

Candidates shall be at least 30 years of age.

All nominations are due by November 15.
