Special Events

NAGWS special events include lectures, meetings, workshops and celebrations.  Some of these events are held with partners – Districts, State AHPERDs, or like-minded organizations.  Wherever NAGWS goes, our goal is to help you be better prepared to do your job as a teacher/coach, lead your community or advocate for girls and women in sport.

Two of NAGWS' most special events occur at AAHPERD Convention each spring.  The Rachel Bryant Lecture and Guiding Woman in Sport Luncheon are both held on what we call "NAGWS Friday."  Each event honors a committed leader in girls' and women's sports.

National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) is organized each February by a Coalition of five girl-serving organizations.  NAGWS leaders and volunteers lobby on Capitol Hill and network with advocates from all five organizations.

Watch for our Female Athlete/Coaches Training Series (FACTS) Workshops throughout the country this year.  Each will address an important issue facing female athletes or those who train them.

Each year NAGWS also works with selected partners to present awards like the Wade Trophy and workshops like the 2nd Annual Girls in Sport Symposium in Greensboro, NC.  Check here and on the AAHPERD Calendar for further information!

Plan Ahead!
