FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Title IX Ruling in Favor of Women's Volleyball Team
HARTFORD, CT – A United States District Judge, Stefan Underhill ruled that Quinnipiac University was in violation of Title IX with the cutting of the women's volleyball team and elevation of "competitive cheer" as a varsity sport.
The National Association for Girls and Women in Sport (NAGWS) reinforces that the intent of Title IX is fairness and equitability for both men and women. President Shawn Ladda states, "We commend this ruling as it is a clear message that institutions need to be within the spirit of the law. There needs to be real equity as opposed to contrived equity through roster management."
