Our Stories

The National Association for Girls and Women in Sport (NAGWS) is a not-for-profit organization whose roots were established in a committee created in 1899 to write rules for women's collegiate basket ball (basket ball was two words in the late 1800s). NAGWS is the sole professional educational organization devoted exclusively to advocating for opportunities for girls and women in sport.

NAGWS is one of the five national associations that make up the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD).
