Dr. Stephen C. Jefferies wrote a letter to Elizabeth Hovde, Oregonian columnist, in response to her article, " School PE cut undesirable but doable." Read Dr. Jefferies' letter.

In an effort to reduce their budget by $19 million, the Portland Oregon Public School Board is considering the elimination of elementary and middle school physical education programs. Elementary and middle school teachers without training in P.E. will be called on to help students get physical activity during the school day. Layoffs for some Portland Public Schools teachers and increased workloads for those who remain are inevitable, officials said. Learn More>>
