In conjunction with Sony Pictures, NASPE has developed an eight-legged (just like a spider!) circuit training program for children and youth ages 6-11 and 12-14 centered around spider-like movements to help promote the upcoming movie "The Amazing Spider-Man" which will be released on July 3. The program is perfect for summer camp counselors, recreation program staff, scout leaders, and moms and dads who want to help their children get the nationally-recommended 60+ minutes of physical activity each day. The lessons provide participants with activities that will help them improve in the five components of health-related physical fitness and come complete with an exercise guide and exercise log to track progress! Some of the exercises include: Spider-Man push ups, hanging leg raises, sidekicks with squats, one-legged reach jumps, squat jumps, eight-count body builders, alternating lateral squats and Spider-Man climbers to name a few -- all which require little to no equipment. Simply click on the links below to access the program!
In addition, children and youth will have an opportunity to earn a Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA). PALA+ promotes physical activity AND good nutrition, because it takes both to lead a healthy lifestyle. Sign up for the six-week program to help children and adults maintain or improve their health. Anyone age 6 and older can earn their PALA+ - sign up today at www.presidentschallenge.org.
