Submission Entry: It is critical to look to the future from 2010 to 2020 given the momentum and attention our professions are receiving at this historic time in our history. It will be essential that physical educators that are not currently engaged in the cutting edge work of the profession are given opportunities to be exposed to best practice, quality assessment and meaningful content. I propose a NASPE roadmap to serve as a guideline for educators that do not reach out to their profession, rather stay in their gymnasiums and offices. This critical and unfortunately large group of physical educators continue to repeat their thinking each and every year they are in the classroom. We must have a plan to reach them, we must have a roadmap to guide our advocates in the schools so that they may, on a simple level, walk up to their colleague and say "There is another type of physical education out there...a more rewarding set of strategies...a motivating set of strategies that will set you and your students apart from the traditional and the ordinary". We must empower our local, grassroots leaders to not be afraid to have that conversation over coffee with "the guy who has been doing the same thing every year". NASPE can no longer afford to preach to the choir of outstanding professionals, rather, find a way to get each NASPE member to reach those thousands that are out there. It is a vision for 2020 that the profession truly embraces not just our NASPE members, but those K-12 supervisors and teachers who are disenchanted and unmotivated. If just each of us motivates one of these types of teachers, what a future we would have indeed.
