| Submission Entry: | My vision for the future of physical education in the United States is that all teacher will deliver quality physical education in line with the NASPE Standards. It is no secret that not all physical education is of the same quality and if we are to continue to advocate for the inclusion of our subject in schools curricula we need to demonstrate that we do something meaningful. If physical education is to have the optimal impact on the lives of our children it needs to be standards based, have an overarching mission, and be delivered by a trained and licensed physical educators. I fear that if we do not begin to work toward this vision of providing quality physical education across the country than we will continue to see our programs cut as school boards are faced with difficult decisions and the pressure of the economy and No Child Left Behind. |
