| Submission Entry: | A key component for the 2020 Initiative is the inclusion of families and community education as part of physical education and health education. The direction that PEP grant requirements has taken is enforcing this concept. Necessary integrations of outside sources for physical education and physical education expanding beyond the walls of the school. The integration of health care providers, CBO's, after-school programs, etc... in a cohesive and coordinated effort to fight the obesity epidemic is key to our future. Physical education in the past has not been integrated and only seen as one of the disjointed efforts to fight obesity and lead the way to healthy lifestyles. Physical education must take the lead and end this disjointed approach by many groups and effort to develop a cohesive approach in every community. |
