Schools Make A Difference

The purpose of Let's Move in School is to ensure that every school provides a comprehensive school physical activity program with quality physical education as the foundation so that youth will develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to be physically active for a lifetime.

Let's Move in School is urging parents, school administrators and policymakers to get involved in bringing quality physical education and physical activity to schools through a comprehensive school physical activity program.

Obesity rates have tripled in the past 30 years and obesity threatens the healthy future of one third of all American children. While schools by themselves cannot—and should not be expected to—solve the nation's most serious health and social problems, schools can and should play a pivotal role in educating our youth about the dangers of obesity and the benefits of maintaining a physically active lifestyle.
