National Association for Sport and Physical Education to Honor University of Delaware's Susan Hall
RESTON, VA, March 25, 2009 – Dr. Susan Hall, Chairperson and Professor in the Department of Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Sciences at the University of Delaware, will receive the Ruth B. Glassow Biomechanics Honor Award for her significant contributions to applied biomechanics research from the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) during the national convention of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD). Hall will be recognized at the NASPE Hall of Fame Banquet on Friday, April 3, at the Marriott Waterside Hotel in Tampa, Florida. Other honorees that evening include the National Physical Education Teachers of the Year for Elementary, Middle and High School, the National Physical Education Administrator of the Year, and the National Athletic Director of the Year Award. Olympic gold medalist Dot Richardson, M.D. will be inducted in the NASPE Hall of Fame.
The Ruth B. Glassow Biomechanics Honor Award, a national recognition, is given to a member of the Biomechanics Academy for significant contributions to applied biomechanical research, service to the academy and/or transmission of biomechanical knowledge to the practitioner. The award is sponsored by a grant from Vicon Motion Systems and by donations to the Ruth B. Glassow fund.
A Fellow and President-elect of the AAHPERD Research Consortium and a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, Hall's research interests have focused on low back pain prevention and clinical biomechanics. Hall has served as President of the NASPE Biomechanics Academy, Vice President of the American College of Sports Medicine, and member of the Board of Directors of the International Society for Biomechanics in Sport. She has also served on several journal editorial boards and is the author of several successful textbooks.
