Joanna Faerber, National Board Certified Teacher, has just completed her 25th year as an instructor of physical education at the Louisiana State University Laboratory School.After receiving her B S E. from Arkansas State University, Joanna earmed an M.A Ed. from East Carolina University. She began her teaching career at Mississippi County Community College in Blytheville, Arkansas as a Physical Education and Health Instructor. After teaching and coaching for four years at Sicily Island, Louisiana, Joanna came to the LSU Laboratory School as a teacher/coach.


During her tenure at the Lab school, she has taught physical education on all levels, most recently specializing in elementary physical education. Joanna's classes are not your normal physical education classes, as you may find her and her students skating about campus, rock climbing, fishing or geocaching. Her lessons often correlate with lessons that her students are learning in their classrooms.


She shares her knowledge in presentations at local, state, regional and national physical education conferences.Joanna has worked with the Louisiana State Department of Education and numerous local school boards to improve the state of physical education. She is an advocate of healthy lifestyles and promotes and demonstrates the techniques she uses with her students in a series of workshops entitled "P. E. is More Than Duck, Duck, Goose." Joanna has served on the Board of Directors of LAHPERD and SDAAHPERD .She has written articles and has appeared on local television programs promoting physical education.
