Teacher of the Year Program

The National Association for Sport and Physical Education is proud to honor exemplary elementary, middle, and high school physical education teachers from across the country through the NASPE Teacher of the Year Program, NASPE is pleased to recognize Sportime as exclusive sponsor of the program since 1989.  

The Teacher of the Year Program is a three-tiered program. Any AAHPERD member who has not previously received a NASPE Teacher of the Year Award is eligible to apply or be nominated. Nominations are due by October 15.  

Candidates do not have to have been selected as their state winner in order to apply or be nominated. All state AHPERDs may follow a process of selection and forwarding to the national pool providing that all candidates are submitted to AAHPERD by October 15.  

All submission materials from all candidates will be sent to the relevant respective Districts to compete for District Teacher of the Year honors. Each of the six districts are invited to select a District Teacher of the Year from each school level to compete for National Teacher of the Year recognition for elementary, middle, and high school levels.
