Frankfort Middle School

Frankfort Middle School opened its doors to students, faculty and staff in August of 1992. The school includes Grades 5 through 8. The current three members of the physical education staff have been at the school since its inception. Members of the staff have taken leadership roles in state, regional and national professional organizations. Frankfort Middle School has been recognized in the State of West Virginia as a School of Excellence. Frankfort middle school has held STARS status since 2006. The Frankfort Middle School Physical Education Program includes all of the critical elements incorporated in a quality physical education program.

Frankfort Middle School is situated on 300 acres which is shared by the high school. The physical education facilities include multiple indoor and outdoor teaching stations and instructional equipment. The State of West Virginia requires that Physical Education Curriculum be aligned with State Standards. The physical education curriculum has an organized planned sequence of activities. The school administers the Fitnessgram as required by the state. Physical education class size is scheduled at a level to permit effective participation and learning. The physical education teachers use a variety of resources to enhance delivery of content, which include heart rate monitors, pedometers, digital photography and the Internet. The staff maintains their Heart Saver CPR/AED certification and professional memberships. The physical education program is host to many interns for local universities.
