This Resource Center has been developed to provide information and resources related to the student teaching or internship experience.  The target audiences are university students about to enter their internship, university internship coordinators, university supervisors, and cooperating teachers. 

This is developed by a committee of teacher educators for the professionals and university students directly involved in the student teaching experience.  The goal is for this to remain a "living" site where teacher educators from across the country can provide additional resources from their program to share and thus constantly improve the experience for all involved.   

For a successful internship experience we advocate that the internship experience:

• Emphasizes a collaborative approach between participants 
• Reflects a scaffold continuum of increasing levels of responsibility
• Supports a plan-teach-reflect cycle of practice that assists the intern in learning 
• Connects the internship experience with program coursework and research that provides the intern with a level of confidence and resources

We realize that the internship experience varies at each institution. Understanding the opportunities and constraints these situational issues present, we have tried to present information, resources, assessments, collections of policies, and forms that can be used generically in a variety of internship situations.  Programs are encouraged to modify or adapt these materials to suit the opportunities, constraints, and requirements at their institution.
