Definition of Terms
1. Classroom Practicum's - Organized field experiences of the prospective teacher that involve the application and testing of teaching and learning theory in a classroom setting.
2. Internship experience – Guided teaching under supervision. Also referred to as student teaching.
3. Intern Site - A school system that participates with the university in the internship program.
4. Intern - A college student who is teaching under supervision, eventually assuming all aspects of a teacher's role, and taking university courses at the same time. Also referred to as student teacher.
5. Cooperating Teacher - A certified teacher who supervises the work of an intern and is employed by the intern site. Also referred to as a mentor teacher.
6. University Coordinator - A university representative who coordinates the experiences of interns and is the liaison between the intern center and university.
7. Intern Site Coordinator - A school representative who is the liaison between the intern site and the university, at the intern site. He/she coordinates the experiences of interns in conjunction with the university coordinator and the superintendent of schools.
8. University Supervisor - A school or university representative who supports the mentor teachers in observing and grading interns.
9. Student - A pupil in the school system.
10.Clinical Instructor - University and site based teachers who deliver graduate credit courses.
