Overview of program
Physical Education is provided for 750 students, grades 6-8, by two and one half teachers at the Andersen Middle School. The school has excellent facilities and equipment to support the program. The curriculum appears to be aligned with national and state standards and student health issues are handled with care. The program emphasis is on sports and fitness through physical activity including exposure to many different activities. “Fitness Wednesday” emphasizes fitness activities. The FITNESSGRAM assessment is a district requirement for all students. Pedometers and heart rate monitors are also used.
