The physical education program at the Braelinn Elementary School, Peachtree City, GA, has two teachers for 583 students. Classes meet two times per week of up to 50 minutes per period. Classroom teachers are provided lesson plans by the PE specialists to complete the 100 minutes per week required by state law for all students. The program emphasizes health related and skill related fitness, skill themes, and concepts in sport and dance in an activity oriented instructional program. A well-balance physical education program is an essential part of the Braelinn education total experience. A good physical and mental health program is vital to developing physically and academically fit students. The physical education curriculum contributes to the mental, social and emotional well being of our students. The Braelinn Elementary physical education program provides an interesting, purposeful curriculum, which builds upon children’s experiences.

It includes a balance of concepts, skills, games, educational gymnastics, rhythms and dance experiences. Examples of subject mater integration include traveling the Olympic world through studying sports, games, and dances. Dancing, traditional and contemporary, reflect the traditions, beliefs, and values of a culture. Through creating and learning dances, students gain a deeper understanding and acceptance of the differences and similarities of the diverse cultures in our world.

The PTO provides a lot of support for funding and maintenance of playground/outdoor equipment.
