Daily physical education in grades 6-8, highly qualified physical education teachers, and top-notch facilities and equipment provide a strong foundation for this program. The fifth grade students, scheduled as self contained classrooms, meet with the physical education specialist two days per week. These classes are combined class sections with the classroom teachers assisting. Additional PE classes are conducted by the classroom teacher on additional days. Student health and safety and inclusion of students with disabilities are strengths of this program. Administrative support for physical education is evident in the favorable teacher to student ratio and no exemption policy. Physical education teachers have put a great deal of thought into developing and describing their class management procedures.

Several unique initiatives are include: student homework notebook and student daily planners; activity log; 8 th grade field trip to Frostburg State University to engage in outdoor/adventure activities; and Intramural days involving other middle schools in the district for 8 th graders.
