The Maple Point Middle School, Langhorne, PA is one of five secondary schools in the Neshaminy School District . Seven teachers provide physical education instruction for 1,100 students in grades 6-9. Authentic assessment and ongoing professional development are key elements of the program focused on presenting contemporary lifetime activities such as inline skating, biking, adventure/ challenge, and orienteering. The curriculum is aligned with district, state and national physical education standards. Technology applications include the use of heart rate monitors, pedometers and digital video replay to provide feedback to students regarding fitness and movement analysis. Multiple grants have been awarded to assist with the implementation of innovative activities in the program. Community partnerships have helped provide equipment for unique programs.
