The Carl Sandburg Middle School in Levittown, PA is one of five secondary schools in the Neshaminy School District. The school provides physical education instruction to 688 students in grades 6-9. The physical education program focuses on presenting contemporary lifetime activities such as in-line skating, challenge, biking, disc games, orienteering and aquatics.  The aquatics program offers unique activities such as water safety, snorkeling, canoeing, kayaking, and water games.  All activities are geared towards development of physical, social and health enhancing standards set forth by the district and state.  Technology applications include the use of heart rate monitors, pedometers and activity monitors, and digital video replay to provide student feedback of movement analysis.  Grants have been awarded to assist with the implementation of innovative activities in the program.  Teachers participate in professional development throughout the year to work on curriculum, standards, and authentic assessments.  Carl Sandburg Middle School and the Neshaminy School District take pride in their outstanding physical education programs.
