This is a repertory that happens every year, where a new repertory piece is created for the three weeks school (16 to 18 year old) students. I caught the final stages of the creation of the piece when visiting rehearsal.
All the movement was in place, and the spacing and timing was being worked out by Pietro and her rehearsal assistant, Sam. This was definitely a fun atmosphere, as the girls and Pietro shared lots of outburst of giggles throughout the rehearsal. But, when it was time to work, these girls showed they were more than ready. It was fun to see that this repertory had created a definite bond between the dancers and with Pietro. After having worked together for so long everyone had become fast friends, and had accomplished much while at the festival. They had great teamwork skills, and were definitely supportive of one another, as was seen at the end of rehearsal when the group had completed a difficult lift and bursted into a round of cheers for a job well done.
